We take all necessary measures to keep you safe and healthy on our private tours. From hand sanitizers, disinfectant hand wipes, to multi-purpose wipes combined with alcohol spray will be used for sanitizing interior of vehicles after each tour.
That in combination with enjoying the outdoors, should make all the difference in choosing an experience, that not only feels comfortable, but creates excitement for a well deserved getaway!
Masks are optional inside our vehicles. We will provide disposable masks, if need.

Bring as little as possible! Necessities are sturdy shoes with traction for uneven surfaces and/or crossing waterfall streams. Preferably all in one shoes for adventures and getting wet, such as Chacos, Tevas, Keens, Vibram Five Toes, OR simple reef shoes and tennis shoes. If you plan on swimming, best to wear bathing suit under your clothes. If staying at a hotel, bring hotel towels. You may want to bring back up sandals to change into at times, your cameras/phones, hats, sunglasses and environmentally safe sunblock (Sunscreens without Oxybenzone and Octinoxate). For half day hiking adventures, reusable water containers and a light pack or backpack.

For each vehicle: a cooler with bottled water, extra towels, first aid kit, head lights, flashlights, underwater lights, umbrellas, trekking poles, sanitation wipes, hand sanitizer, Dramamine, paper towels, small trash bags, and other necessities.

Yes, we are. We have a Motor Carrier Certificate from the Public Utilities Commission (PUC #4953-C), and carry all required commercial insurances.

Cancellations up to 72 hours before scheduled tour departure are fully refundable on Day tours and Half Day hikes, for groups of 1-7 people. If you cancel within 72 hours of your scheduled tour departure, or are a no-show for any reason, no refund will be provided.
For large groups of 8-14 people, cancellations up to 14 days before scheduled tour departure are fully refundable. Cancellations 13 days to 8 days before tour departure are 50% refundable/minus the booking fee. If you cancel within 7 days of your scheduled tour departure, or are a no-show for any reason, no refund will be provided.
For Two Day Hana Trips with overnight stay in Hana, cancellations up to 7 days before scheduled tour departure are partially refundable. A $100 administration fee, a booking fee, and any non-refundable accommodations, or camping deposit/payments for Makana Maui Adventures (if any) will be deducted prior to refunding. If you cancel within 7 days of your scheduled tour departure, or are a no-show for any reason, no refund will be provided.
Tours may be transferred to another name or rescheduled at no cost, depending on availability.
Tours go rain or shine. However, we make reasonable arrangements to reschedule upon request, depending on availability. We take your safety seriously and if weather and road conditions are deemed to be dangerous, we will reschedule or cancel the tour. If Makana Maui Adventures needs to cancel a tour due to severe weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, your payment will be fully refunded.
Refunds may take up to 21 days to be posted to your account.

For half-day hiking tours – we provide bottled water and light snacks for energy.
For Hidden Gems before Hana – we provide bottled water and light snacks for energy.
For Valley Isle Tour: you will have the flexibility of choosing a variety of local food trucks, or restaurants such as, The Mill House at Maui Tropical Plantation, Cocktail Cafe at Ocean Vodka Farm, Kula Lodge, or your choice! Local Hawaiian snack stands are also availabale further into the West Maui Mountains loop, should those locations be part of your tour, so you may want to bring extra cash and a credit card.
For Hana tours – we provide 1- 2 loaves of fresh local banana bread (more for larger groups). You will also have excellent local places to choose from for lunch at your discretion. We believe eating at the best local places is a big part of your experience. In addition, there are tasty Hawaiian snack stands and farms along the way, from banana bread, tropical fruits, smoothies, Coconut ice cream, coconut candy, coconut water, icees, Hawaiian coffee, Hawaiian chocolate, and other tasty treats, so you may want to bring extra cash and a credit card considering some places are cash only.

Half day hikes specify difficulty level and skillset needed, and in general are for active types. In addition, custom half day hikes can be provided based on ones experience and skillset.

Yes, it is standard procedure for Private Tour Operators to have a Release of Liability Waiver signed by every person in the group before you begin your tour. Parents/guardians with minors must sign for them. With the understanding, safety is always a first priority.
